I built this because I needed it at fifteen and nobody had it. Why →

What a signature code is

Everyone has one. Almost nobody knows theirs.

The particular way you make decisions, hold energy and create value. Not a preference. The specification underneath every business decision you make.

Your pace

Steady output or surges. Get it wrong for a decade and you will call it burnout.

Your agenda

Which hours to defend. Which to give away without guilt.

What to say yes to

And when. Most bad deals were good deals agreed on the wrong day.

What to avoid

Every code has one or two things that drain you no matter how good you get.

Who to hire

The person who completes you is different for every code.

Where money leaks

A price set to your comfort. The client who costs more than they pay.

The whole point

Working with your code costs almost nothing.
Working against it costs you double.

You pay that difference in health, in relationships, and in years. Most people pay it for a whole career without ever knowing what it was for.

It answers three questions

Who am I?

How you are built, said plainly enough that you can name it out loud for the first time.

When am I at my best?

The exact conditions where your work is effortless — and the ones that quietly flatten you.

How do I lead?

What to decide, delegate and build around yourself, once you know which one you are.

One real page, unedited

Specific enough to act on. This week.

Nadia runs an architecture practice of eleven people. This is one section of hers, and what she did with it.

When you are at your best

You run hot on work you chose. You stall completely on work you merely accepted. Both are the same mechanism — and it is not motivation, and it is not discipline.

Your energy arrives in surges, not in steady supply. That is why you can work eleven hours on a competition entry and cannot force forty minutes on a fee proposal.

So the order of your week matters more than its length. Work you chose goes first, while the surge is there. Work you accepted goes into the window where you are already moving anyway.

And the unfinished pile in your studio is not a character problem. It is evidence that you have been starting more than one person can close — which is a staffing question, not a moral one.

What Nadia did with it, that week

  • Moved fee proposals to 11am, after the first block was done. Stopped losing whole mornings to a task that takes forty minutes.
  • Told her business partner her three open projects, with dates. First time in four years all three closed.
  • Hired a project architect instead of another designer. The pile was never a design problem.

Seven more sections like this one, written for you.

Other things it told her

“Your right answer never arrives in the room. It arrives on the second look, and it is reliably different from the first.”

“People form a picture of you before you have spoken. That is why the wrong client feels so personally disappointing.”

“Five things in you hold their shape under any load. The rest moves with the room — which is why your judgement of yourself on a Friday is unreliable.”

The eight sections

Eight sections. All of them about you.

01How you are built — the whole thing in one page, in plain words
02When you are at your best — the conditions that produce your best work
03How you decide well — your actual mechanism, and when to distrust yourself
04How people meet you — how you land on others before you speak
05What flattens you — and why it is a specification, not a weakness
06How to lead from this — what to hold, what to hand over, who to hire first
07What to stop apologising for — three things, with the reason each one was never yours
08Your page — the whole of it on one sheet, for your desk

Who it is for

Anyone whose results depend on how they work.

Which is nearly everyone who leads something. It has been written for all of these.

Founders and owners — of anything, at any size
Family companies — where roles were handed out by history, not by fit
Practice and studio owners — medical, legal, design, architecture, therapy
Consultants and advisors — anyone selling their own judgement
Executives and team leads — inside a company you did not build
Coaches and practitioners — where you are the product
People about to hire — before you pick the wrong complement
People about to change everything — a pivot, a handover, a succession

One honest note, so nobody is disappointed: it makes no predictions and tells you nothing about your future. It describes how you work, and what follows commercially from that.

Why this is different

An economist wrote this. Not a coach.

I don't get paid to make people feel better. I get paid to find money inside businesses — and I have found it in companies turning over millions, sitting exactly where nobody thought to look.

01

Profitability is mechanics

Margin, pricing, channel, timing. Levers with rules — and almost nobody running a business was ever shown them.

02

The same leaks, every time

A price set to what you can say without flinching. The client type that costs more than they pay. The offer you think is your best.

03

Struggle is structural

When work feels this hard it is rarely insufficient effort. It is a business shaped wrongly for the person running it.

04

I want it easy for you

Not easier. Easy. Money should move the way everything moves when you are in the right shape — without force.

What that means for your report

It doesn't end in insight. It ends in what to charge, what to stop selling, who to hire, and which hours to defend — because that is what I do for companies all day, pointed at one person instead.

There are patterns in how money actually behaves, and most of them are never said out loud. I learned mine the long way — a war, two countries and about twenty years. I would rather you didn't.

I've sent it — take me to the form

Seven days. If it does not describe you accurately, say so and I rewrite it once or refund you in full. No form, no conditions.

I write, review and audit every single one myself.

Questions

I run a family company. Is this for me?

Yes — and it is often more useful in a family company than anywhere else. In a family business the roles were usually handed out by history rather than by fit: you took the part nobody else took, or the part your name came with. Your code tells you which of those are genuinely yours, which you have been carrying at a cost, and where the friction with the people closest to you is structural rather than personal. There is a box on the form — tick it, tell me what “family company” means in your case, and the report is written for that.

How can you know this about me?

From a small amount of information you give me and a profiling model I have built up over years of doing this alongside my commercial work. I do not publish the model — it is the part of this that is mine. The only test that should matter to you is whether the report describes you accurately. If it does not, I refund you.

Why do you ask for my birth details?

The model needs one fixed point about you, and your birth moment is the only thing on the form that is not filtered through how you happen to feel about yourself this week. If you do not know your exact time, say so — I have a short set of questions that gets us there, and I will tell you honestly how certain the result is.

What if it does not describe me?

Then it has failed and I will not keep your money. Seven days, one email, and I rewrite it once or refund you in full.

In two days you could stop guessing about yourself.

And run your week the way you are actually built to run it.
